Self-Care

Daily writing prompt
How do you practice self-care?

I practice self-care by logging out for my lunchbreak every work day. I take it a step further by holding myself accountable to a 30 minute workout on that lunchbreak. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” Not only am I honoring God by taking care of myself, I am reaping the benefits by gaining a clear mind and refreshed approach to the balance of my day. I also don’t beat myself up if something gets in the way of these plans. If I take that same time to occasionally do lunch with my colleagues (not talking shop), I get right back on the horse the next day. Sometimes, I even take a boutique fitness class on weekends. I’m not a perfect size 2 and I’m not a meathead. I’m just honoring God and taking care of me.
